Tips for Successful Chat Sessions

Student Portfolios - As the first order of business,  request that students send the link and password to their Personal Portfolio Page for your review.

FAQs - Keep your FAQs  available to insert both text and links as part of your personal chat responses to students.

Manage Time - Decide how much time you want to spend with each student.  To move on, thank them for stopping by.

Auto-traffic Management - Hosts can effectively chat with no more than 3 students.  The 4th student request will be automatically transferred to the next available host.

College Student Volunteers - High school students want to know about campus life.  We encourage you to invite resident students to assist in hosting your chat sessions.

Chat Etiquette - Keep it brief, personal, encouraging and responsive to student questions.  When reviewing their portfolios or searching for information to send, let them know you need a moment.

Practice - The 'net generation' is familiar with text and instant messaging.  They expect brief responses.  Prior to the fair, practice chatting with your college students.
